How to Choose a Vascular Specialist
Your primary care physician (PCP) may refer you to a highly qualified vascular specialist, or you may wish to select the vascular specialist of your choice. If deciding when to see a vascular doctor and choosing a local vascular specialist, one of the most important things to consider is the physician's training and experience, as well as if the physician has experience treating your vascular condition and what types of treatments they offer. Our vascular providers can only be seen with a referral only.
All of Firelands Physician Groups' vascular specialists are accredited through The American Board of Surgery. The American Board of Surgery is an independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1937 to provide board certification to individuals who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge in the field of surgery. Surgeons certified by the ABS, known as diplomates, have completed at least 5 years of residency training following medical school, met all ABS training requirements, and successfully completed the ABS examination process.
