Joint replacement surgery is a procedure that many people undergo to relieve chronic joint pain and improve joint mobility when other non-surgical treatments have proved unsuccessful. If you are dealing with persistent joint pain and a limited range of motion then joint replacement surgery may be worth considering to restore your overall quality of life and get you back to doing the things you enjoy, pain-free. Should I Consider Surgery?

Certain conditions can cause joint pain and disability that lead patients to consider joint replacement surgery. In most cases, joint pain is caused by damage to the cartilage that lines the ends of the bones (articular cartilage). Dr. Robert Carlisle

Robert M. Carlisle II, MD

Orthopedic surgery has been my career goal since middle school. I suffered an orthopedic injury while playing sports that introduced me to an orthopedic surgeon who subsequently became my mentor throughout medical school, residency, and fellowship. Since entering the field of medicine, I have always enjoyed interactions with my patients. Everyone has a unique story to tell, and I felt being a total joint surgeon gave me the chance to hear patients’ stories from all different walks of life.
