What to Expect at a Pain Management Appointment
After scheduling a pain management appointment in Clyde, Sandusky, Vermilion, Norwalk or Port Clinton, you will arrive at the office and be greeted by the reception staff where a check in process will take place. Make sure to bring any imaging studies (X-rays, CAT scans, or MRI scans) or other tests that have already been done, with you to your appointment. The receptionist will collect the requested information you bring with you.
Soon after, you will meet one of our medical assistants who will introduce themselves, obtain your weight and vitals and walk you to your exam room. From there, the medical assistant will ask you questions about the history of your pain condition. This history will include details such as the nature, location, radiation, severity, and timing of your pain, along with alleviating or exacerbating factors for your pain symptoms.
Next, you will meet your local pain management doctor who will talk with you and obtain a more detailed history, as well as perform a physical exam. Your doctor may order more diagnostic studies before a treatment plan is determined. Finally, your doctor will formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan, discussing this with you in detail along with answering any questions that you may have.
